Diane Milner’s Home, Shoreline Area, CT

Overview

Diane Milner’s late 1800’s house sits on a stone foundation with a dirt crawl space at the bottom of a steep incline in the Shoreline Area of Connecticut, a region known for it’s rocky terrain and solid expanses of granite bedrock nestled among Long Island Sound shoreline, marshes, and creeks.

Problem: Water and Moisture in Crawlspace

During the winter of 2006, groundwater was seeping into Diane’s crawlspace. Periods of heavy rainfall exasperated the problem. The additional excessive moisture in the winter of 2006 had Diane pumping out as much as 1,000 gallons of water the day after a heavy storm and had nowhere to put it but in the street which was a problem with the town.

Problem: Mold Growth and Health Issues

Before the winter of 2006 Diane suffered chronic sinus problems — including many sinus infections and headaches — as a result of mold growth in the crawlspace that consequently deteriorated indoor air quality. She spent several years and a lot of time and money searching for solutions to help her get better, all to no avail. She knew the crawlspace was the source of her problems but simply couldn’t find a good solution until she found Neutocrete Systems.

This is a low-cost solution that proved ineffective against water intrusion and mold growth. Note the mold that is growing on the beam in the upper left corner of the photo.

Solution: NEUTOCRETE, NEUTO-Drainage, NEUTO-Shock

<<AFTER NEUTOCRETE.
This shot was taken from the same cutout in the living room floor as the water photo above. As you can see everything is dry and the mold is gone.

Neutocrete® Systems solved the problem by:

  • Treating her crawlspace with Neutocrete®, permanently sealing the walls and floors
  • Moving her sump pump so it was not below the water table
  • Connecting the sump pump pipes into the city’s drainage system below street-level
  • Treating the mold with NeutoShock to eradicate it
